Legion commemorating Vimy with ESP parade on Sunday, May 28

East St. Paul's Jessie Posthumus has returned from the 100th anniversary
celebrations of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Posthumus was part of a youth
contingent that represented Canada at the ceremonies in France.

The Royal Canadian Legion, Henderson Highway Branch No. 215, will host its annual Legion Zone Parade and Wreath Laying Ceremony on Sunday, May 28.

This year's parade will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge in the First World War.

The parade will begin in the Sobey's Parking lot at 12:45 p.m. and make its way north on the east lane of Birds Hill Road to the Cenotaph in the Birds Hill Memorial Park.

A short service and wreath laying will be held there at 1 p.m.  Upon completion, the parade will return to the Sobey's parking lot along the west lane of Birds Hill Road.

The parade will include a marching pipe band, several colour parties, approximately 15 Veterans and Legion Members as well as members of the Cadets and Scouts.

After the parade there will be a reception and lunch held at the Legion at 3600 De Vries Ave.

Parking will be available at Sobey's, Bird's Hill Credit Union and Ludwick Catering.

In case of inclement weather, a short service will be held at the Legion Branch.
