Green traps meant to nab destructive EABs

If you’ve wondered what the large, green objects in the RM’s ash trees are these days, wonder no more – they’re Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) traps.

The EAB is an invasive species that threatens the province’s ash population. The traps are an important tool in the early detection of the EAB, a pest that is provincially and federally regulated.

Trees with the traps in them will be identified with a small poster and a warning for the public not to tamper with the traps.

The traps are being placed across the province by the Forestry and Peatlands Branch.

If you see a trap that has fallen from the tree please contact the Operations Department at (204) 668-8336 or operations@eaststpaul.com.
