On Nov. 4, 2015 the R.M. of East St. Paul announced a new
Handi-Transit service for area residents.
In order to be able to use the service, you must submit an
application to the Municipality.
That application will be reviewed, and once
that process is complete, a user card will be mailed to you. This card is
required to use the service. All information provided by the applicants will be kept
private and confidential.
When approved, user cards will be mailed out that allow
people two round-trips per week. This can also include trips to Winnipeg,
though service fees will vary depending on the length of the trip. Priority
will be given to riders seeking transportation to medical appointments, then
shopping trips. Secondary priority will be given to those using the service for
visiting trips or to recreational activities.
Handi-Transit will be available from Monday to Friday, 9
a.m. to 6 p.m.
Trips must be booked 24 hours in advance of travel, and must
originate from within R.M. of East St. Paul boundaries.
Drop offs and pickups will be to the ground floor entrances
of departure and arrival locations. One-way fares are $7 to areas in the RM of
East St. Paul and in Winnipeg north of Broadway Ave. One-way trips to south
Winnipeg are available for $9.
Funding for the Handi-Transit service is provided by the
provincial government’s Mobility Disadvantaged Transportation Program as well
by the R.M. of East St. Paul.
