Building/Plumbing Inspector
The RM of East St. Paul is currently seeking an individual to assume the position of a Part 9 Building / Plumbing Inspector. The incumbent is responsible for the administration, interpretation and enforcement of the Manitoba Building / Plumbing Code, East St. Paul Building By-law and other applicable standards and regulations on all new construction, alterations, repairs and demolition of buildings, structures and excavations. This includes being responsible for the efficient delivery of building inspections from the initial enquiry and permit application through plan examinations, inspections to monitor compliance, and record-keeping. This also includes performing administrative duties relating to re-zoning, variances and other related applicable legislation.
The ideal candidate will possess at a minimum:
- Five (5) years of experience in the design and inspection field of building construction, including interpreting drawings and specifications, as well as experience as a Development Officer as it relates to the administration and interpretation of zoning regulations;
- Certified in, enrolled in or willing to enroll in the Building Inspector Training Program;
- Knowledge of The Planning Act, The Municipal Act and all applicable legislation;
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills;
- Ability to perform duties within a team environment;
- A valid, unrestricted Manitoba Drivers license;
- Basic knowledge of computers;
- Ability to manage time and prioritize work.
